Welcome to Sleepy Miracles Consulting!

We are here to provide you with emotional and educational support to help your baby or toddler with their sleep needs. We work with families in the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley and beyond.

If you want to know if your baby is ready for a ge If you want to know if your baby is ready for a gentle sleep coaching process, take a look at the following checklist: 
-Your baby is at least 5.5 month old.
-You are beginning to see a pattern in their sleep:
 --a regular wake time in the morning
 --a consistent bedtime
 --one long stretch at night
-You have a consistent, relaxing bedtime routine
-Your baby's doctor has stated that it okay for your baby to feed only once or twice overnight and has given you the green light to start gentle sleep coaching
-Your baby's growth is on target
-Your baby is getting enough to eat during the day
-Your baby is healthy.

The key is to know when is the right time to intro The key is to know when is the right time to introduce changes, to give your baby the opportunity to learn independent sleep. At the right time and following a plan that you feel comfortable, sleep can happen! I will talk more about "the right time in my next posts". Stay tuned!
Short naps are common. Because nap lengths can var Short naps are common. Because nap lengths can vary, this can affect for how long your baby can be awake. So, until his naps are longer,  your baby's schedule will not be super consistent. Don't stress about it! Especially if your baby is younger than 6 months.

What to do? Watch you baby and the clock, and do what you can to get your baby to bedtime without getting overtired. 
If your baby falls asleep for only 15 minutes or so, you can try to get them back to sleep. Pat, rock or feed them and see if they can manage to sleep a bit more.

Within 10 minutes, you’ll know whether they’re going to nap longer or not.

If so, that’s great!
If not, that’s ok. Move on with your day and move the next nap a bit earlier.

But don’t spend all day trying to get your baby to take a long nap.

At 6-7 months, babies can nap more predictably and on schedule when you encourage self-settling at nap time.
